Nicola Sturgeon has announced the SNP will launch a national campaign in "defence of Scottish democracy" following the verdict from the Supreme Court earlier today.
The First Minister said her party will hold a special conference in the new year to determine how to take the referendum on independence forward.
Judges ruled unanimously that the Scottish Parliament does not have the power to legislate for a second independence referendum. Sturgeon announced earlier this year that she wanted to hold a vote on Scotland's future on October 19, 2023.
