NICOLA Sturgeon has revealed that she was approached for a major reality TV role.
ITV bosses tried to recruit the former first minister for Dancing on Ice after she publicly admitted her love of skating.
The approach came while she was still serving as Scotland’s first minister.
Speaking at a promotional event for her autobiography, Frankly, Sturgeon said the invitation followed a comment she made during an interview, reports the Scottish Sun.
She said: "I was asked in some interview, ‘If you had to do a celebrity TV show, which would it be?’
"So I said Dancing on Ice because the prospect of that terrifies me less than dancing on a ballroom floor.
"No sooner had this appeared in print than I got an approach from Dancing on Ice.
"I’m thinking, I’m the First Minister of a country – I don’t think that’s going to work."
The 55-year-old leader spent time in her youth on the ice rink at the Magnum Leisure Centre in Irvine, Ayrshire.
While she turned down the opportunity to appear on the show before its cancellation in 2025, she made it clear there is one reality programme she would never consider.
Speaking to fans at Backstory bookshop in Balham, London, she said: "I’m not interested in doing I’m a Celebrity.
"I’d be too terrified."
Sturgeon is set to appear in the first episode of Sky’s new fictional drama series The Wargame, in which she plays the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister.
The show explores how politicians might respond to a Russian "attack".
