Nicola Sturgeon resignation latest - what time is press conference and how to watch

Nicola Sturgeon is set to step down from her position as First Minister of Scotland, more than eight years after she took over from former FM Alex Salmond.

Ms Sturgeon has been in the role of First Minister since 2014, when she became the first woman ever to step into the prestigious position.

Edinburgh Live reported earlier today (February 15) that it is currently unclear when Ms Sturgeon would leave her role at First Minister.

The Scottish Government confirmed the hastily-prepared news conference earlier this morning, as rumours circulated about Sturgeon's resignation from her post.
