Nicola Sturgeon has revealed she has been "knocked for six" after testing positive for coronavirus at the end of last week.
The First Minister took to social media on Friday, May 20, to announce she had contracted the virus and was following Scottish Government guidance and self-isolating.
When announcing she had tested positive for covid-19 the FM said she was experiencing mild symptoms, however over the weekend the virus has hit hard.
Sturgeon, who is triple jabbed, said she will remain at home for the time being.
She also urged people to get all doses of the vaccine to give themselves the best protection against coronavirus.
Sturgeon tweeted: "Thanks for all the well wishes.
"The virus has really knocked me for six the past couple of days. So while I hope to be back fighting fit v soon, I’m having to stay at home for now.
"Once again - this time from personal experience - please do get all doses of vaccine if you haven’t already.
"COVID can be nasty and vaccination protects against much more serious illness. Right now, I’m feeling extremely grateful for that."
On Friday, Sturgeon had met Sinn Fein vice president and first minister designate of Northern Ireland, Michelle O'Neill, at Bute House.
She was also in Washington DC last week meeting US government officials.
The two-day trip aimed to encourage investment between Scotland and the US.
