SCOTLAND'S First Minister has said her "thoughts and wishes" are with the Queen and her family after news emerged that she is under medical supervision at Balmoral.
The royal family has rushed to be by her side amid serious health fears for the UK's longest reigning monarch.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement at 12.32pm on Thursday, interupting proceedings in the House of Commons.
They said the head of state was comfortable and her royal physicians recommended she remain under medical supervision, as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, and William and Kate, cleared their diaries and immediately headed to the Queen’s home at Balmoral.
After the announcement, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “All of us are feeling profoundly concerned at reports of Her Majesty’s health.
“My thoughts and wishes are with the Queen and all of the royal family at this time.”
After Speaker Lindsay Hoyle cut off SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford's energy bills speech with the announcement, the MP said he was “saddened” to hear about the Queen’s health.
Resuming his speech, Blackford told the Commons: “I’m sure on behalf of all colleagues that we’re saddened to hear the announcement that has been made, and the thoughts and prayers of all of us will be with Her Majesty the Queen and indeed with the royal family.”
Meanwhile after First Minister's Questions, Holyrood’s Presiding Officer said the thoughts of all in the Scottish Parliament are with the Queen.
In a brief statement to MSPs Alison Johnstone said: “I am aware that a statement has been made at Westminster on the health of Her Majesty the Queen.
“I will, of course, monitor developments and keep members updated over the course of the day.
“But my, I’m sure the thoughts of all in Parliament are with Her Majesty at this time.”
Also commenting, Scottish Greens co-leader Lorna Slater said: "Our thoughts are with the Queen and her family at this time."
