Nicola Peltz awkwardly swerved the topic when asked about her husband Brooklyn Beckham’s embittered feud with his family.
The eldest Beckham child, 27, has accused his “controlling” parents of trying to “endlessly ruin” his marriage to Nicola and said he has no plans to reconcile with them.
He has also reportedly told his family to only contact him through his lawyers and recently removed a tattoo tribute to David.
While her husband has been increasingly vocal about the family fallout, Nicola, 31, pointedly refused to discuss the rift.
She was asked by The Hollywood Reporter: “There’s been a lot of public interest in your real life and relationship with husband Brooklyn Beckham’s family. How have you navigated that attention?”
Steering the chat firmly back to her upcoming movie Prima, Nicola replied: “I’ve been editing my next film for the past two and a half weeks.”
She went on: “So honestly, I’ve been in the editing room. We haven’t had weekends. We’ve just been trying to make a deadline [for Cannes].
”And it’s been so amazing to just put my focus on that and be creative. It’s been really fun doing that, and I’m really excited for it to come out.”
Brooklyn turned 27 on Wednesday, with his parents David and Victoria sharing gushing social media tributes to him that he reportedly found “performative”.
They shared throwback photos with him and declared their love for him - despite Brooklyn allegedly telling them to only contact him through his lawyer.
An insider told Entertainment Tonight that Brooklyn and Nicola thought the birthday tributes were “performative”.
“Brooklyn and Nicola are disheartened they chose to make public Instagram posts for his birthday,” the source said.
“These are the exact type of performative public actions that Brooklyn has been trying to put an end to, to no avail.
“Last summer they issued a legal letter to his parents requesting that any correspondence go through lawyers.”
Brooklyn spent the day celebrating with Nicola who shared a series of posts marking her husband’s birthday.
The Transformers actress posted a photograph of the couple in a room decorated with pink balloons and birthday decorations.
“Happy birthday baby… I hope all your dreams and wishes come true,” she wrote.
“You light up every room you walk into and anyone who knows you loves you… you’re the most special human and I love being your wife. I love you I love you I love you.”
