Nicola Bulley latest as police divers search river where body of missing mum was found

Divers have been spotted in the river where Nicola Bulley's body was found back in February, as officers continue to identify her cause of death - it has been reported.

Specialist cops were said to be scouring an area less than a mile from where Nicola was seen in St Michael's on the Wyre, Lancashire.

The official HM Coroner has also confirmed via a statement, that they requested assistance from Lancashire Police to help produce information on the passing of the mortgage advisor and mum-of-two.

The Mirror reports that Nicola vanished while she was walking her dog by the River Wyre on January 27 - sparking a substantial three-week search. The 45-year-old was later dubbed 'high risk' by police, through a 'number of specific vulnerabilities'.

Her body was tragically found and recovered on February 19, with an inquest into her death set to take place June 26 at Preston's County Hall.

The search for Nicola saw police, firefighters, mountain rescue teams, specialist divers and the widespread community all chip in - combing through a massive area spanning the river to the coastline of Morecambe Bay. Peter Faulding also launched a specialist search of the river, using sonar equipment - but his efforts reportedly led him to be removed from the NCA expert list.

For Nicola's funeral last month, a no-fly zone was placed over the church to prevent twisted internet sleuths from filming proceedings - after armchair detectives and social media users turned up in St Michael's to conduct their own investigations, despite no training or background to do so.

A spokesman for HM Coroner told the Lancashire Post: “The investigation will take time to complete to ensure that as complete a picture as possible of the facts concerning Ms Bulley's death is presented at the inquest. This will assist the family in understanding what occurred.

"As part of this process, HM Senior Coroner has requested Lancashire Constabulary produce information gathered during the search for Ms Bulley so it can be considered as part of the investigation.”

A police spokesperson added: “We can confirm this is us carrying out some work at the direction of HM Coroner."
