Nico Raskin ankle injury detailed by Rangers boss Michael Beale ahead of Celtic clash

Michael Beale has revealed that midfielder Nico Raskin was struggling with an ankle injury ahead of today's defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The midfielder played 64 minutes before being replaced by Rabbi Matondo as a precaution ahead of next weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic.

On Rangers' injury problems heading into the showdown, Beale explained: "Listen, we might have one or two back, you know. Today, Nico came to the game with a little bit of a problem with his ankle.

"So obviously, you see when we're 2-0 down you’re half thinking ‘well, okay, we won't push that any further’.

"We had nice passage to play today for periods of the game today I thought. We played well. But it's about the penalty boxes and we didn't execute there.

"Next week we have a completely different challenge against a very, very good team. It's a semi-final, it's a fifty-fifty game. When we go into that, we will push this aside and we go into that with positivity.

"When you have the ascendancy and you're the away team, it's important you take the chances there because something in the game, a moment, a decision or like we saw there, the boys crossed it and it's gone in - it changes the mood of the game.

"I thought maybe in the build up to the second goal there was a foul on Fashion Sakala and okay, we don't get it. You have to defend the far post much better than we did.

"If we stayed in the game at one nil then the chances come and as I say, still at 2-0 down we had the chances to recover the game, so we need to look at that. We need to be better in the final third."
