Nicky Clark WINS Rangers red card appeal as WiIlie Collum VAR check decision overturned

St Johnstone have won their appeal to overturn the straight red card Nicky Clark received in the 2-0 defeat to Rangers.

Willie Collum dismissed the striker for a challenge on Ryan Jack which left the Perth fans fuming and insisting Collum had got it wrong despite checking the call with the help of VAR. Following the clash with Michael Beale's side Callum Davidson insisted there was evidence that the decision was incorrect, and the SFA have backed up the St Johnstone gaffer. Clark is now free to face Celtic on Sunday.

The claim has been "partially upheld" but the red card has now been reduced to a yellow card for for the 31-year-old. Following the game against Rangers, Davidson said: “Overall I think VAR has been a success, it has been good so far - but the weekend was one I just didn’t understand. We are not happy but we will appeal it because it didn’t go to VAR so I think there will be grounds for an appeal on it. Nicky was pulled so was losing his balance and he pulled his leg away. I don’t think he caught Ryan Jack at all, it was a knee-to-knee."
