Nicky Clark fighting fit for St Johnstone as he targets goal scoring run

St Johnstone striker Nicky Clark wasted no time in making an immediate impression on Saturday’s game as he came off the bench to try and haul Craig Levein’s side back into the game at Kilmarnock.

The former Scotland manager said after the game that a fully fit Clark will be pivotal to his plans going into the New Year after the striker has spent six weeks on the sidelines.

Saints are now away to Livingston with Clark desperate to stay fit after a frustratingly staccato campaign.

"It has been frustrating for me, obviously coming back after a long term injury and I think it was four games in two weeks and it caught up with me and I had another wee injury,” he said. “But I have had a few weeks training and I am feeling good.

"We have not rushed it. I spoke to the manager and Kirky about that. I have made sure I have been proper ready to go this time. I am feeling good so hopefully I can help the team out now.

"I was frustrated, coming back, scoring a couple of goals feeling good and when that happens it is another setback.

"But  I have got myself back to a good level now and so it is all about getting minutes on the pitch. I got 30 or something against Kilmarnock so I am feeling good and raring to go against Livingston.”

And Clark isn’t overly keen to consider the potential ramifications of losing to bottom-of-the-table Livingston.

"We will just worry about ourselves,” said the striker.

“We will look back at the Kilmarnock game and see what we could have done better and take the positives as well because there was a lot in the second half, once we eventually got control of the game and passing it about, we showed what we are all about. If we do that on Wednesday night I am sure we will be alright."
