Nicki Minaj to star in 50 Cent’s ‘Lady Danger’ animated comic series

Hip-hop superstar Nicki Minaj is set to both star in and executive produce Amazon Freevee’s upcoming animated series “Lady Danger.”

Adapted from the Dark Horse comic book series written by Alex de Campi, the show will be executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson under his production banner, G-Unit Films and Television Inc. The rapper has become a white-hot TV commodity with the gritty drama universe “Power” for Starz.

According to Deadline, “Lady Danger” is described as as an “afrofuturistic a–kicking Agent of B.O.O.T.I (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention)” who hides her identity while taking down villains who threaten the safety of Earth’s inhabitants circa 2075. The character was previously known as a government field agent who was presumed dead, but later resurrected.

Sharing the news on social media Wednesday, 50 Cent wrote: “What you doing today, we working @nickiminaj South Side you already know what it is. Big Bag BOOM GLG GreenLightGang I don’t miss.”

Both hip-hop superstars, who have never collaborated musically, hail from the South Side section of Queens, New York.

Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, previously voiced characters in the animated movies “Ice Age: Continental Drift” in 2012, and 2019′s “The Angry Birds Movie 2.”

She also appeared in the films “Barbershop: The Next Cut” and “The Other Woman,” as well as the Comedy Central animated series “Steven Universe.”
