Nickelodeon fans have shared their excitement as popular TV show Zoey 101 is set to get a reboot - 15 years after the final episode of the coming of age sitcom aired. The news was announced on social media, with Paramount uploading a trailer for the reboot, aptly named Zoey 102.
Fans won't have to wait long either as the film is due to come out next month. Several original cast members have reunited once more for the movie - including Zoey Brooks herself, as played by Britney Spears' younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears.
Other stars returning for the reboot are Jamie's on-screen ex-boyfriend Sean Flynn and Erin Sanders, who played Quinn Pensky. Jack Salvatore has also reprised his role as Mark Del Figgaloin.
The trailer suggests the film picks up almost 20 years after the series left off, which puts the 'Pacific Coast Academy' alumni in their 30s. The official release date for Zoey 102 is July 27, and will be available to watch on Paramount+.
Zoey 101 first premiered back in 2005, as viewers followed teenager Zoey as she settles in at her new boarding school in Malibu and makes new friends - and some new romances. The show came to an end two years later in May 2008, due to it having simply "run its course", as explained by Jamie Lynn in an interview with Nylon in 2020.
In response to the upcoming movie reboot, ItsHLb***h tweeted: "This actually looks pretty cool. All the same cast, a good story line, making it more adult. I’m excited, childhood me is happy. AureMoraRu admitted: "Dude the nostalgia hits hard."
DovesofLiberty said: "I’m currently smiling from ear to ear :) I had absolutely no idea about this project, but boy am I glad it exists." Jc_nextgener added: "I’m so happy that they’re going with that storyline. Quinn and Logan were an unlikely pairing but it worked great."
Literatere put: "Why does this look good." 02void13 joked: "Sad thing is I just know I’m going to tune in." Barrera_ka34751 penned: "I can't wait to see Zoey back in action! The teaser gave me chills and I'm already counting down the days until July 27th."
However, some weren't too sure on the new series. KingOsyrus typed: "Def didn’t need this but it hits the nostalgia and doesn’t look as bad as some of these other reboots." Nappingcookie added: "Am I going to be disappointed in this? Most likely. Am I still watching? I’m afraid so."
