Nick Viall and Natalie Joy recently shared intimate details about the birth of their daughter, River Rose, on a recent episode of The Viall Files. The couple recounted Joy's pregnancy journey, starting with her challenging first trimester where she expressed reluctance to go through pregnancy again due to its difficulty.
However, Joy described her second trimester as blissful and beautiful, while the third trimester brought discomfort and fluid retention. As her pregnancy progressed, Joy's daughter was in breech position, leading to discussions about the need for manual intervention. Ultimately, an induction at 38 weeks and 5 days was decided upon.
Upon arriving at the hospital for the induction, Joy found the process to be extremely painful and opted for an epidural. The couple was informed that the epidural would provide Joy with more control during childbirth. Despite the challenges, Joy expressed her fear of tearing during birth.
After receiving the epidural, Joy faced a prolonged dilation process before being ready to give birth. She underwent various positions to help her daughter turn face down, including using a peanut ball between her knees.
Finally, Joy dilated to ten centimeters and began the pushing process. Her daughter was born after less than 30 minutes of crowning and three pushes. Joy expressed that the delivery process was surprisingly smooth compared to the challenges of the nine-month pregnancy.
Viall shared his emotional experience of witnessing the birth, noting his daughter's immediate skin-to-skin contact with Joy. The couple had earlier announced the birth of River Rose on Instagram, revealing her name and birth date, paying tribute to Joy's great grandmother and niece.
