Nick Sirianni is unsure if Eagles will carry 2 or 3 QBs on 53-man roster

The Eagles currently have one of the NFL’s top rosters, and with such overall talent comes some tough roster decisions on cutdown day.

Philadelphia will need to trim the roster down to 53 players by Tuesday, August 30.  With several key positions on the depth chart likely to be evaluated tightly, the quarterback position could take the biggest hit.

The Eagles like to keep a developmental quarterback, but on Wednesday, head coach Nick Sirianni was unsure when media members in Miami asked his preference.

“It just all depends. It all depends on your roster situation in general. Sometimes it doesn’t even come down to who the quarterbacks are. It comes down to some of the roster things. I’ve had two at times and I’ve had three at times. I’d say more probably so on the two side than the three side, to be quite honest with you. But that just depends on a lot of different things.”

“I think [QB] Gardner [Minshew] had a really nice day yesterday as well. And I think [QB] Reid [Sinnett] has had a good camp throughout. So, I’m happy with the situation that we have right now.”

Philadelphia could choose to carry more than three running backs, the wide receiver position could see five or six players carried along with the big four at the position.

The Eagles could also carry extra offensive and defensive linemen, while the linebacker and cornerback depth charts are stacked and could require extra players.

With a 16-man practice squad available, Philadelphia will have roster flexibility weekly.

Still, the Eagles should carry two signal-callers into Detroit if the team believes Sinnett is the future No. 2 quarterback, post-Gardner Minshew.
