Alabama football coach Nick Saban can’t even go to Italy without someone recognizing what he does for a living on Saturdays in the fall.
At this week’s SEC media availability, Saban told reporters that he and his wife recently went on a trip to Italy for their 50th wedding anniversary, one that he reportedly wasn’t wild about going on.
However, Saban began to feel right at home when folks started noticing who he was on his trip and offering him a “Roll Tide” greeting when they’d meet, even at the Ferrari plant.
“These cats don’t even speak English, and we’re getting ‘Roll Tide,'” Saban told reporters about his factory visit. “I guess we must have a pretty decent brand.”
Nick Saban said his trip to Italy was a 50th marriage anniversary gift from friends. He said he initially didn't want to go, but he enjoyed the trip.

The Alabama fan base certainly stretches far and wide, even into Italy while Saban is on vacation. People just like winners, and Alabama has certainly built that following strongly since Saban arrived.
The next time Saban takes a vacation, we’re betting he’ll wonder where he’ll find Alabama fans next.
