Tennis ace Nick Kyrgios will miss the French Open after failing to recover in time from knee surgery.
The Australian, who is well known for his antics and outbursts, underwent the surgery back in January. He hasn't featured in a Grand Slam tournament since reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open back in September 2022. He also missed this year's Australian Open due to the same injury.
There had been rumours he may play but it was confirmed earlier today that he would indeed miss the tournament. Play gets underway on the clay of Roland Garros on Monday 22nd May.

Kyrgios has endured a troubled relationship with clay during his career and has played in only a handful of events on the surface since 2017. He did though express his desire to play in this year's French Open whilst appearing at a clay tournament in Houston 12 months ago. At the time he said, "Next year I am going to go to Paris. I'm announcing that now, I'm going to the French Open,
"I haven't played that in four years so I'll be back next year. My girlfriend just wants to see Paris. I mean, I'll play the French Open as well."
Given Wimbledon, in which he was runner-up last year, is less than three months away he is also considered an injury doubt. His appearance in last year's final was his first ever in a Grand Slam singles event.
Rafael Nadal's participation in the French Open is still in the balance following an injury plagued 2023. The 14-time winner hasn't played since withdrawing from the Australian Open back in January and fell out of the world's top-10 in March. He'd been an ever-present there since April 2005.
