Nick Kyrgios takes swipe at TWO tennis stars after he's told to stay away from Wimbledon

Chris Eubanks and Daniil Medvedev don’t stand a chance of beating Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon, according to Nick Kyrgios.

Kyrgios is not in SW19 after pulling out of the Grand Slam at the last minute with a wrist injury. Instead, he has taken to sharing his thoughts on the contenders on social media – and he thinks Djokovic already has the title wrapped up.

Djokovic is on course to win his 24th Major title and his eighth at Wimbledon after beating the big-serving Hubert Hurkacz 7-6, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 on Monday. The 36-year-old Serb has won the title at the past four Championships and has not lost a completed match at the event since retiring injured in 2016.

He will face Russia ’s Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals, while Eubanks will come up against third see Medvedev after producing a stunning performance to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets. Eubanks is unseeded and has been the surprise package in the men’s competition so far, but Kyrgios gives him no chance of going all the way.

Replying to a tweet which read “Go win it all Chris Eubanks”, Kyrgios wrote: “I give this about 0% haha but please prove me wrong”. The 27-year-old American, who knocked out British number one Cameron Norrie in the second round, is making his debut in the main draw at Wimbledon and said he is “living the dream” after defeating Tsitsipas, who beat Andy Murray in the previous round.

Kyrgios reached the final of Wimbledon in 2022, where he was beaten by Djokovic, so he knows better than most just how tough the Serb is to beat. He was tweeting while watching world number one Carlos Alcaraz beat 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini in four sets.

During the match, Kyrgios tweeted: “I think the only person now who honestly can take down or trouble Novak on the grass is Berrettini…. On the grass you need a bomb for some free points. If not you are in trouble.”

In response to someone suggesting Medvedev has the game to topple Djokovic, he wrote: “Doesn’t volley well enough on the grass, maybe he proves me wrong”.

He later added: “Looks like my insight is credible. Alcaraz is the under dog in this match.” That ‘underdog’ came through 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 against the big-serving Berrettini and will face Holger Rune in the last eight.

Kyrgios’ comments come after he was slammed for ducking out of Wimbledon on the eve of the tournament. Chris Goldsmith, aka The Tennis Talker, tweeted: “Nick Kyrgios. Pulls out of Wimbledon at last minute. Pulls out of Mallorca 1 week ago. Pulls out of Halle 2 weeks ago. Struggles in Stuttgart. Not played since Tokyo 2022.

“Anyone shocked? Not really. Said earlier tennis is a job and not fussed about coming back.” He added: “Don't come back to SW19”.
