Nick Knowles has revealed that DIY SOS will be returning to our screens next month, which means that the exciting burst of life Nick and the team gave a tired Bristol playground will be broadcast very soon. In October 2021, Nick, Billy, Chris and Jules came to the city to transform The Ranch playground in Southmead.
The Ranch, which is situated on Doncaster Road, was damaged by vandals last spring before Nick and the 'Big Build' team descended on the site, and unveiled the results on October 28. A number of local builders, traders, police officers, fire crew members and volunteers helped revive the tired old playground, and turn it into something much safer and more attractive.
59-year-old DIY SOS star Nick has now announced via social media that the beloved show will be returning to BBC One very soon. Sharing the news on Twitter, Nick wrote: "Make a note everyone who likes the show - we are back for a proper series run for the first time in years!

"Starting May and running through June for 6 weeks of new shows! Please RT [retweet] as we want everyone who has been asking for our return to know."
In addition to the filming that took place in Bristol, the upcoming series of DIY SOS also features projects in Kettering, Northamptonshire, Stoke on Trent, and Northumberland. Shortly after Nick and the team wrapped up their renovations in Bristol, the former I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star wrote on social media: "Thank you to all the builders and various trades, suppliers, fire and police services and volunteers who turned out over the last ten days in Southmead Bristol to rebuild The Ranch.
"You will have a positive effect on many young lives. It was an honour to work with you all."
The Ranch play area is run by Southmead Development Trust, a resident-led charity working to improve health, wellbeing and employment. Aside from the arson which took place in 2015, leaving residents in tears, the play area was once again hit by arson in May 2021.
For over two decades, DIY SOS has followed Nick, the team and an army of volunteers as they work tirelessly to transform people's homes to make them suitable for their needs. Although the show often features home renovations for those with illnesses, disabilities and injuries, the team often work to transform community group facilities, too.
