Nick Diaz interested in Jake Paul or Logan Paul after Nate Diaz’s loss ‘if they want to do Round 2’

As the dust settled and Nate Diaz accepted defeat in Saturday’s boxing match loss, his brother Nick Diaz threw on a headset to voice his interest in perhaps adding a new chapter to the Diaz vs. Paul saga.

Publicly speaking in-depth on his future fighting plans for the first time in more than a year, Diaz indicated one of the reasons he showed face Saturday at American Airlines Center in Dallas, outside of his support for his brother, was to put himself in the mix for potential future matchups – perhaps vs. Jake Paul or Logan Paul.

“I think (Nate) needs a little more work, but let’s cut to the chase,” Diaz said on the pay-per-view post-fight broadcast. “I’m a lot better than both of these guys that are out there. I’d love to entertain the idea of moving on in on whoever they’ve got for me. If they want to do Round 2, if he ain’t going to do it, I’ll take it. He’s got an older brother, too. Don’t forget about the one and only.”

Diaz, 40, has not competed in combat sports since a September 2021 loss to Robbie Lawler. The bout, which Diaz lost by third-round TKO, was his first since 2015. Following the fight, Diaz indicated more were to come – while the promotion and president Dana White did not commit one way or another to what was next for him.

As things stand, it sounds like Diaz is eyeing options.

“I’d like to get a good look at what’s going on because I don’t know what’s happening,” Diaz said. “But I like to keep options open. … I’d like to entertain something in the near future. We could talk about that. It could be a possibility – either way, one of those two, or maybe something else. I’ve got a lot going on right now, but we can sort that out.

“… Of course (I’m interested in the Paul Brothers). That’s why I try to stay away from the fight game in general, because I’m all the way in. It’s all or nothing. I’m never one foot in, one foot out. Me coming here today, I just feel that I have a little bit of an opportunity to open up a little bit of a window. If that’s what it is, then just let it be known. I’m still motivated as ever. I’m a harder worker and better than anybody that’s out here in this right now in this day and age.”

Jake Paul, 26, rebounded Saturday with a unanimous decision vs. Nate Diaz following a split decision loss to Tommy Fury in February. Logan Paul is set for his first professional boxing match since 2019. He’ll take on a yet-to-be-announced opponent Oct. 14 in Manchester, England.
