Nick Cannon slammed Democrats as the party of the Klu Klux Klan, while heaping praise on President Donald Trump — including for his $5 million Gold Card, which offers wealthy foreigners a pathway to U.S. residency.
The actor and rapper made the remarks during a newly released episode of his web show Big Drive, during which he interviewed Amber Rose, a model and outspoken Trump supporter.
“Democrats don’t care about Black people,” Rose said as Cannon cruised around California in a topless Chevrolet K5 Blazer. “They don’t care about people of color, and the Republicans do. And that’s a misconception.”
“I agree with you 100 percent,” Cannon responded. “People don’t know that Democrats are the party of the KKK. People don’t know that Republicans are the party that freed the slaves.”
These statements hold some validity. Formed after the Civil War to terrorize freed Black Americans, the KKK received strong backing from Southern Democrats, but it also gained traction within the Republican Party. By the 1920s, membership was roughly evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, according to The Washington Post. President Abraham Lincoln, who issued the Emancipation Proclamation, was a Republican. Yet today, neither party much resembles its historical roots due, in part, to Civil Rights-era political realignments.
Later in the interview, the former host of NBC’s America’s Got Talent clarified that he doesn’t “subscribe” to either major party. Paraphrasing W. E. B. Du Bois, he said both the Republicans and Democrats are “one evil party with two different names.”
But, that didn’t stop him from saying: “I f*** with Trump.”
“He [is] doing what he said he was gonna do…We got the Gulf of America now,” Cannon said, referring to the president’s executive order last January rebranding the Gulf of Mexico.
He then lauded the billionaire president’s Gold Card, an immigrant investor program, which offers an expensive fast-track to permanent residence status. “He’s like the club, charging a $5 million dollar bottle service fee to get into the country,” Cannon said.
Earlier during the on‑the‑road interview, he acknowledged that he shared common ground with Rose, who spoke on stage at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

“Both you and I have some conservative views, you’re just a little bit more outspoken about it than I am,” Cannon confessed.
Rose has described herself as a “former liberal,” who once believed the media’s “lies” about Trump. During her RNC speech, she said: “I did my research and looked into all things Donald Trump. I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay or straight. It’s all love. And that’s when it hit me: these are my people. This is where I belong.”
Despite living in Los Angeles, a bastion of liberalism, Rose told Cannon she has no plans to move away from the California city.
“I have my kids here,” she said, referring to her two children she shares with two men. “I would never take my children away from their dads.”
Cannon noted that he has 12 kids — with six different women — prompting Rose to chime in: “I’m next, I need a third baby daddy.” The “Gigolo” singer responded: “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
