In a rambling phone call to the Sunday Mail, Nicholas Rossi portrayed himself as an innocent Englishman who’s never left the UK and is being framed for rape and fraud charges.
The 35-year-old claims his real name is Arthur Knight and told us he can provide irrefutable proof he was not a fugitive.
He put forward wild claims that the police in Scotland and the FBI have the wrong man and that he can clear his name.
Speaking from his flat in Woodlands, Glasgow, he spoke with a posh English accent.
But the Sunday Mail has seen evidence that he was using an Irish accent while living in Bristol up until May last year.
He said: “None of what has been said about me has been verified or confirmed. I have never left the British Isles in my life.
“They keep calling me Nicholas Rossi – this has not been confirmed.
"I prefer to be referred to as my legal lawful name which is Arthur Knight and addressed as such.
“I have never been to the US. When you hear the story in its entirety you will be shocked.”
Rossi said he had spent three months in hospital recovering from Covid, which damaged his lungs.
Last month we revealed he used a fake Irish accent and posed as a marketing expert to trick Canadian TV star Nafsika Antypas, 44, into handing over $40,000.
She says Rossi threatened her family after she severed ties with him. Rossi denied he had duped her.
He added: “As far as I was concerned, we separated on good terms and there was no animosity.”
