Taking to the stage at Glasgow Green, the Irishman briefly interrupted his performance to send a lovely message his fellow singer. The 26-year-old Scot is currently taking time away from performing to work on his mental health, letting fans know is stepping back for a little while after struggling with his performance at Glastonbury last month.
Speaking to the Glasgow crowd, Niall said: "I know this is on television. Our good friend Mr Capaldi is watching. Shall we give him a little shout?” After counting to three, the fans then joined the former One Direction man cheering "we love Lewis".
Niall then went on to say: “He can hear us. I know he will. He’s in Bathgate and he can hear us loud and clear. He’ll be back. He’ll be back.”
The pair have been pals since 2018 when Lewis supported Niall during his solo Glasgow shows.
The 29-year-old opened with his hit song 'Nice To Meet Ya', telling fans he had never experienced a crowd "so up for it".
Going on to call the thousands of adoring fans "f****** mental" Niall said "It’s an absolute honour to be with all the lunatics" before claiming the gig was just like playing in his own home town.
The star went on to please One Direction fans singing the band's hit "Story Of My Life".
The Slow Hands singer's performance comes as he announced a return to Glasgow at the Hydro during his upcoming tour.
