Niall Horan claims Lewis Capaldi's mum confirmed Netflix documentary lie

Niall Horan claims Lewis Capaldi only did his own washing "for the cameras" of his Netflix documentary.

The former One Direction singer claims Lewis' mum Carol confirmed that she does his washing when he comes to her house to drop it off. Niall appeared on the BBC Radio 2 Scott Mills show to speak to Scott ahead of the release of his new album and his tour next year.

The Irishman spoke about both Ireland and the UK's Eurovision entries, how he and his former band members avoided crowds at the height of their fame, and his relationship with fellow singer Lewis Capaldi.

When asked if he did his own washing like Lewis did in his How I'm Feeling Now documentary, Niall threw his friend under the bus and said: "He doesn’t do his own washing. I spoke to his mother the other night. He’s a liar!

"He maybe did it for the cameras... I swear to god, Carol, I said to his mother the other day, ‘Does Lewis pop around to the house or are you in his flat in Glasgow often?’, she goes ‘Yeah, when he hands me the washing'."

Speaking about Ireland's Eurovision entry, Wild Youth, Niall said: "I’m good mates with the lads from Wild Youth. Conor is a really good friend of mine and he said a long time ago that he wanted to write an Irish Eurovision song, not thinking that he would write it for them, just wanted to be the guy who wrote the next Eurovision song...

"Then he wrote the song and now the band themselves are representing Ireland... and it’s the first good song we’ve had in a long time. It’s a really good song and I’m hoping they’ll smash it... and obviously Mae Muller’s song is good as well so we’ll see what Europe is thinking."

Niall, a keen golfer, also spoke about buying golf clubs for Lewis Capaldi. He said: "He said to me, I’ll never play golf, it’s an old man’s sport and it’s the worst sport ever. And then about eight weeks later he was asking me where he could get a set of golf clubs so I got him a set...

"I went to his gig a few weeks ago and I brought them with me and now every day he posts golf videos. He’s actually posting more about golf than I do and that’s saying something.

"He just texted me this morning saying ‘I need to work on my balance.’ He’s actually got a really good swing, not even making him feel good about it, he’s actually good.

"[If he gets better than me] that’s gonna be some fun we’ll have, a lot of fun. Won’t be good for the liver if he gets any good at golf, but we’ll have a laugh.".

He also discussed how he managed to explore new cities and places at the height of his One Direction fame. Niall said: "I remember going to see the White House for the first time at, like, three in the morning ‘cause it was the only time I could actually. I remember going for a sleep and then getting up at two o’clock to go and see it and taking a selfie outside.

"Or I remember one time we were in Rio and we were going to see Christ the Redeemer, the big statue and we had to decoy a van at the front door and we got in the back of the bread van that was delivering bread to the hotel and they put cushions in the back of it... with no windows and sweating in Rio de Janeiro heat just so we could go and see it."
