NI jobs available for trainees - from apprentice coachbuilders to graduate consultants

Wherever you are interested in taking your career, there could be a trainee scheme that is perfect for you.

From apprenticeships giving you hands-on training in manual and technical disciplines to graduate schemes that train you to work for one of the Big Four accountancy forms, there's a huge range on offer.

Many of the schemes also give you the opportunity to study for professional qualifications, giving you even more strings to your bow.

Here are seven trainee roles that you could apply for right now:

Apprentice Parts Advisors, Agnew Group Ltd

Agnew Group, which represents premium car brands including Audi, BMW and Volkswagen, has opportunities for apprentice parts advisors based in Belfast, Mallusk and Portadown.

It's a three year apprenticeship, consisting of on-the-job training with Agnew's parts department combined with classroom training with Transport Training Services Ltd.

Duties for this role may include receiving and dispatching parts, sourcing and pricing parts and customer service - face-to-face, by email or over the phone.

Apprentice Coachbuilder, Wrightbus

Wrightbus, whose buses are used across Britain, Ireland and around the world, are recruiting apprentice coachbuilders. The apprenticeship will be based in Ballymena, and it will include an engineering course based on day-release study.

It's a comprehensive programme including many aspects of coachbuilding as well as being trained on workshop manual procedures (WMPs), how to interpret engineering drawings, using cranes to move heavy equipment and parts and learning about the bonding procedures and fitment of materials.

The company is looking for well-organised team players with a high degree of professionalism.

Graduate R&D Shift Engineer, Seagate Technology

Based in Derry, Seagate Technology is one of the world's leading manufacturers of computer storage, and it is looking for a graduate shift engineer to work in its research and development department.

The successful candidate will be working in the company's high-tech wafer fabrication facility, with the opportunity to develop technical, manufacturing and research skills.

The firm is looking for recent graduates or those in their final year of an engineering or science-related discipline, and some familiarity with semiconductor processing technologies and equipment may be an advantage.

Trainee Accountant, Jones Peters Chartered Accountants

Jones Peters Chartered Accountants are based in Banbridge, with clients operating throughout the UK and Ireland. They are looking for someone to join their training programme, which includes support as they study for professional accountancy qualifications.

The successful trainee will work with clients in a number of different sectors, for example preparing accounts for small businesses, charities and solicitors. With experience, you will progress to working with larger companies and performing business advisory services such as preparing business plans and cash flow projections.

Anyone with a 2:2 degree or higher will be considered, though an accountancy/business background will be an advantage.

Mechatronic Apprenticeship, Brett Martin Limited

Brett Martin Limited is a Newtownabbey-based firm that manufactures plastic products for the construction, fabrication, print and display sectors.

Their mechatronic apprenticeship is a four-year training programme of both on-the-job and classroom/factory training, leading to BTEC Level 3 in Engineering and the potential of a job as an electrical/mechanical maintenance technician.

You'll need an interest in engineering and seven GCSEs (or equivalent) and grade C or above, including English, maths and a science discipline. The company is also keen to recruit those with A Level qualifications.

Graduate Associate, PwC

PwC is one of the so-called Big Four accounting firms worldwide. It's currently looking for graduates to join its Operate business in Belfast.

The Graduate Associate role will vary, depending on a number of factors including your own experience and skill set, but it may include tasks such as research, review and collation of documents, reports and information; monitoring financial transactions; and reviewing contracts and documents to identify key facts, anomalies etc.

Key requirements are a 2:2 degree or above in any discipline, excellent communication skills and a logical, analytical approach to work.

Consulting Graduate Scheme, Deloitte

Deloitte is another of the Big Four, and it is now recruiting graduates for its c onsulting graduate scheme, based in Belfast.

The scheme includes professional qualifications, and it involves working with clients from the very beginning, on projects designed to improve their businesses.

Clients can include major corporations and government departments, and there is a strong focus on thinking, collaboration and the use of technology.
