NHS seeks feedback on urgent care in Newcastle as Westgate Road walk-in centre to remain closed until March

NHS bosses in Newcastle are seeking feedback on urgent care services - such as the currently closed Westgate Road Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

Westgate Road has been closed throughout the winter due to major staffing shortages, which were described as "worrying" by Newcastle city councillors in December. Now, the NHS is asking for people in the city to share their thoughts on access to urgent care as it looks to "to provide the best possible services within the resources available" .

The NHS defines urgent care as "when you suddenly become unwell and need to see a health professional the same day, but it is not an emergency or immediately life threatening". There are three UTCs in Newcastle - Westgate Road, Ponteland Road and Molineux Street in Byker.
