NHRC takes cognizance of TOI report about Mahadalit woman being urinated upon, sends notice to Bihar govt

PATNA: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday took suo motu cognizance of a TOI report about a Mahadalit woman being brutally assaulted, stripped and urinated upon for failing to pay interest on a loan at a village in Patna district and issued a notice to the Bihar government.

The commission also issued notices to Bihar chief secretary and the director general of police, calling for a detailed report in the matter within four weeks.
