BHUBANESWAR: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notice to the director general of prisons, Odisha and sought a detailed reply from the officer on the overcrowding and precarious condition of Bhadrak jail.
The commission issued this direction on September 27 after hearing a petition filed by lawyer and human rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy four months ago. The rights panel has sought an action taken report on the issue from the prison authorities within four weeks.
