NHRC seeks action on men eating woman's body part in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district

BHUBANESWAR: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought action taken report from Mayurbhanj district collector in a matter related to eating of dead woman’s flesh by two men at a cremation ground in Mayurbhanj district on July 12. The petitioner alleged that the rights after death of the woman had been violated in this case.

The Commission passed this direction on July 20 after hearing a petition filed by human rights activist and lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy. The petitioner said the two accused- Sundar Mohan Singh, 58, and Narendra Singh, 25, of Dantuni village under Badasahi police station- reportedly ate the flesh of a deceased woman Madhusmita Singh, 25, at the cremation ground near Bandhasahi village under Badasahi police limits in the district.
