In the wake of retired federal judge Sue L. Robinson’s decision finding that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson violated the league’s personal conduct policy and recommending a six-game suspension, the NFL released a statement on Monday afternoon thanking Judge Robinson and noting that under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the league has three days to review the decision. The statement noted that the NFL will then make a determination on the “next steps.”
Previously, the NFLPA and Watson released a statement vowing to abide by Judge Robinson’s decision.
Under the terms of the CBA, the NFL or the NFLPA on behalf of Watson may appeal the decision within three days. That deadline can be mutually extended upon agreement of all parties.
