NFL rookie Brian Robinson Jr continues to shine for the Washington Commanders just months after he was shot in an attempted car-jacking incident. The running back scored his second touchdown of the season on Sunday in incredible fashion over the Atlanta Falcons - bulldozing his way into the endzone.
The 23-year-old phenom was hospitalised on August 28 following a shooting that saw two gunmen attempt to steal his car outside of a restaurant, as he would be forced to undergo immediate surgery for the bullet wound in his leg after losing a lot of blood.
It was an incident which could have ended his career and potentially worse, but he was abele to make a dramatic recovery and returned to the team just weeks later.
And now, three months after the incident, Robinson is back to running over defenders for highlight plays like he did throughout his time at Alabama, which saw him drafted in the the third-round by the Commanders.
Robinson rushed for over 100 yards in an impressive performance over the Falcons, with a win vaulting them into playoff contention.
The running back, along with new starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke have been huge factors in the turnaround, whilst competing in arguably the toughest division in football, moving to 7-5 but still three games behind the leading Philadelphia Eagles.
Robinson Jr has been one of a number of impressive running backs to the NFL by storm this season, with Kenneth Walker (Seahawks), Breece Hall (Jets) and Dameon Pierce (Texans) all performing very well this season.
Whilst the Commanders put themselves in good position after today's win, Robinson Jr's touchdown to seal the game means the Falcons fall to 5-7, and will now have a tough road to make it to the playoffs, however they do have a favourable schedule in the next coming weeks.
The Commanders will face the division rivals New York Giants in back-to-back games, with the first coming up next week in New York, before the Commanders will go on bye and face them again in Week 15, back in Washington.
