The two-year-old daughter of an NFL star has tragically died after drowning in the family swimming pool.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquill Barrett's daughter sadly died on Sunday morning, with the team issuing a statement after Arrayah Barrett's death.
Tampa Police responded to a call at around 9.30am Sunday. Aarrayah was taken to the hospital but attempts to revive her proved unsuccessful.
A statement from the Buccaneers read: "Today's tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family,' it read.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time.
"While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah."
According to the Tampa Bay Times, an investigation is currently ongoing, but it appears that no suspicious activity is involved with the death being accidental.
Arrayah was the youngest of their four children, with his wife, Jordanna. Less than two weeks ago, Barrett shared pictures of his daughter celebrating her second birthday on social media.
"So sweet and cute," Barrett said in the caption. "You made our family complete. I love you baby girl."
Barrett, 30, has been with the Buccaneers since 2019. He has been recovering from a torn Achilles tendon which saw him miss the second half of last season.
Barrett led the NFL with 19 and a half sacks in 2019, before winning the Super Bowl with the Bucs the followings season. He went undrafted in 2014 before joining the Denver Broncos, spending the first four seasons of his career with the team. He then joined Tampa Bay in 2019.
