The NFL has confirmed what actually happened when Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar Mike Evans was caught on camera signing a sheet of paper for two officials.
During the Buccaneers loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Evans was seen walking back to the dressing room, either at half-time or full-time, and spoke with two referees - side judge Lamberth and line judge Tripp Sutter. The incident was caught on camera as Lamberth asked Evans to sign something as they left the field.
It was then reported that the league had launched a review into the situation as to why Evans was signing something, with the NFL-NFLRA collective bargaining agreement stating that "officials are prohibited from asking players, coaches or any other team personnel for autographs or memorabilia."
