NFL ace JC Jackson is looking to make the New England Patriots regret letting him leave when he faces his former team this season.
Jackson will return to New England for the first time when his Los Angeles Chargers face them in December. It will be the first time that Jackson has lined up against his former team after they chose not to match the offer that he received from the Chargers.
The Pats decision not to re-sign him was somewhat surprising, with the team having a huge need at the position, having the cap space to make a deal and taking into account just how well he had played.
No player had registered more interceptions than Jackson during his time in the league - with 25 picks in just four seasons.
But when the Chargers offered him an $82million, five-year deal, the Patriots opted to not send a similar package his way and let him walk. That's something that irks Jackson, and he admitted he looks forward to playing against them and third-year quarterback Mac Jones.
Speaking to NFL Network, he said: "It's a revenge game for me. I'm excited to go back and pick Mac Jones off and show them why they should've never let me go."
After signing his big contract extension, Jackson moved to a different scheme playing with the Chargers, and struggled early on before he season-ended abruptly after a serious injury in the loss against the Seattle Seahawks.
However, he has spoken confidently of his progress and claims he will be ready for the new season where he hopes to show once again why he is one of the better cornerbacks in the league.
For the Patriots, it could be a tough season ahead while in a division with three Super Bowl favourites while many believe they could be one of the worst teams in the league this season - potentially in line to have a high draft pick in next year's class.
