NFL star Damar Hamlin is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during Buffalo Bills' game with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
Viewers around the world watched on as the 24-year-old collapsed to the ground in the first quarter moments after an on-field collision. The popular star then received extensive treatment as a hushed silence fell over the Paycor Stadium. Hamlin was transported to nearby hospital as players from both teams came together to pray for the stricken player. The game was then postponed.
A statement from the Bills read: “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game vs. the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field & he was transferred to UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated & listed in critical condition.”
