NFL rookie earns comparisons to Tom Brady after starring in his second start - "Uncanny"

NBA star Draymond Green has declared that we could be watching the next Tom Brady in seventh-round draft pick Brock Purdy, who again impressed for the third straight game as he helped secure a win over division rivals Seattle Seahawks.

The San Francisco 49ers have been on a tear as of late, but many feared that their Super Bowl hopes were over when Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a season-ending injury. The star had only taken the reigns as starting quarterback after Trey Lance was also ruled out for the season after picking up an injury against the Seahawks in week two of the season.

The only other quarterback on the roster had been Purdy, who was selected with the final draft pick of this past years class - which earned him the name 'Mr. Irrelevant' - but stepped in against the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago and led the team to a statement win.

And in the past five days, he has defeated Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and last night beat the Seattle against the Niners' most bitter rivals - in. just his second start.

Purdy's success has remarkably now seen him draw comparisons to Brady, who was also selected with a late-round draft pick and only brought in after injuries.

Whilst watching him impress last night, NBA star Draymond Green said to the Amazon Prime team: "I was watching the game last week and I said to some of my friends, 'hey fellas, do y'all think we're watching the next Tom Brady?' You know, Tom Brady being a sixth-round pick.

"Are we watching the next Tom Brady? We don't quite know that yet, but to see what this guy is doing is absolutely amazing."

Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football analyst Michael Smith echoed Green's thoughts, as he said: "I'm not saying he is Brady but it is eerily reminiscent. It is uncanny the comparison between Brock Purdy in 2022 and Brady back in 2001. There's the same level of poise and composure. I've seen this movie before."

The win over the Seahawks has now confirmed the Niners' playoff spot - with Seattle three games behind them with as many matches to go.

Whilst Purdy grabbed headlines, it's the Niners defence which teams will be fearing heading into the post-season, with runaway defensive player of the year candidate Nick Bosa continuing to shine with two more sacks in the win, as he leads the league with 15.5.
