The Cleveland Browns may be one step closer to getting rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. back on the field, but that is now squarely in the hands of the NFL.
Hall Jr., who was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List after he was arrested and charged with domestic violence, had his court hearing on Thursday. In his hearing, Hall Jr. pled down to one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, was fined $250, given a suspended 30-day jail sentence, and was placed on community control for two years.
Following his court hearing, the NFL is still not ready to make a ruling on his status. Here is what they had to say in a released statement:
“We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter which remains under review of the Personal Conduct Policy. There’s no change in his status.”
In the meantime, the Browns will continue to trot out their veteran stable of defensive tackles who continue to play well. Getting the 21-year-old back on the field, however, would give them an explosive boost upfront.
We will continue to follow this closely as the NFL should have enough information to make a ruling.
