The NFL on Wednesday announced its slate of international games for the 2022 season. The 49ers will head to Mexico City to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, November 21. The Week 11 matchup will be a home game for Arizona, which means the 49ers will still have a full slate of nine home games at Levi’s Stadium.
The 49ers were likely set to play an international game in Mexico in 2020 vs. the Cardinals, but the NFL cancelled international games because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
San Francisco last played at Estadio Azteca vs. Arizona in 2005. They were blown out 31-17 in that game. It’s their first international game overall since 2012 when they trounced the Jaguars 42-10 at Wembley Stadium in London. They also beat the Broncos 24-16 at Wembley Stadium in the 2010 season.
The rest of the 49ers’ schedule is set to be released later this month.
