NFL hopeful sends social media wild after making "impossible" catch for college side

Isaiah Alston has potentially made the catch of the year during a game between Army and UMass, with some fans describing it as 'impossible'.

Alston grabbed the ball at the pointed end with ease, even though the catch should've been anything but, and fans are astonished. To make it even more impressive, it was the very first pass of the entire game for Army.

Army dominated UMass as they ran out 44-7 winners on Saturday, piling further misery on their opponents who are 1-11 for the season. But despite a high scoring game, fans are mainly talking about the catch that happened right at the start of proceedings.

Alston is hoping to one day make it to the NFL like most college stars, and the Army sophomore has certainly done himself no harm with the catch on Saturday. "Impossible," one fan said when seeing Alston's catch online.

"Such a sick catch," another added. "He used every bit of his 6’4 height and vertical to get up over the defender. OBJ would be proud lmao."

"Army threw ZERO passes last week and a guy makes a catch like this? That's impressive," one fan stated. "Doesn't get many looks, but I think Alston is a legitimate NFL prospect. Presumably knows what he's doing run blocking as well."

"Oh my god, what an awesome catch. Incredible," one fan said when seeing it. And at this rate the Army may just start throwing the ball a bit more, with the college side one of the biggest rushers in the game.

The Army rely on their running game most weeks, and that was the same case on Saturday as quarterback Tyhier Tyler only made two passes all game. The quarterback scored three touchdowns himself in the 44-7 win, rushing for over 100 yards.

But there were three other rushing touchdowns as Bryson Daily and Jakobi Buchanan shared the points. Army are now 5-6 for the season, in the Independents division.

Alston leads Army in receiving yards for the year, scoring one touchdown in 2022 and catching for 246 yards. It's his third season with the college side, after joining in 2018.

There hasn't been a player drafted from Army since 2008, when Caleb Campbell was picked up by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round. Before him it was Ronnie McAda back in 1997, who joined the Green Bay Packers.
