Russell Wilson’s first game as the Broncos’ quarterback in his emotional return to play the Seahawks (+6.5) wasn’t the only notable event from Monday Night Football. I mean, yes, Wilson wore a slick mint green suit in his tunnel walk, but again, his homecoming wasn’t the only noteworthy happening in Seattle.
It was also the debut of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman as the lead announcing team for one of the NFL’s marquee broadcasts. Given that the commentating duo had called 20 years’ worth of Sunday afternoon games on Fox, some devoted football folks found their presence in the broadcast booth a bit confusing:
🗣️ "MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!"

Gah, it’s so weird! I’m used to hearing the sweeping NFL on Fox theme as Buck sets up the matchup! I’ll get used to it, eventually,
NFL fans couldn't get used to Buck and Aikman calling MNF
how do I explain to a normal person why it feels so weird that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are doing Monday Night Football instead of the FOX Sunday afternoon game

Good, bad. Like them, don't like them. One thing can't be denied: Joe Buck/Troy Aikman = big-game feel. That alone gives ESPN a win they haven't had in a long time.

You all forgot Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are the new voices of MNF, didn’t you

Hearing Joe Buck and Troy Aikman doing Monday Night Football feels so strange. Almost like seeing your teacher out in public.

Troy Aikman and Joe Buck on ESPN is incredibly disorienting
