The NFL has tabbed a historic venue as the host site for the 2025 NFL draft, announcing Monday the event will happen for the first time ever at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The decision was announced during the NFL spring league meeting in Eagan, Minn. “following a review of the proposal by the Fan Engagement & Major Events Advisory Committee and full ownership,” per the NFL.
“The Draft has become our biggest offseason event hosted in different cities and spectacular locations across the country, and we are excited to work with the Packers and Discover Green Bay to bring the 2025 NFL Draft to Green Bay and iconic Lambeau field,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “With the help of numerous local partners on the ground, our prospects and fans will be treated to an incredible week-long experience that shows off the city of Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin.”
With Monday’s announcement, Green Bay will join Detroit on the list of hosts for upcoming drafts. The 2024 NFL draft is currently scheduled to take place around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit from April 25–27.
For the first time in Lambeau’s 66 years of existence, the venue, along with the home team Packers and city of Green Bay, will serve as hosts for the NFL’s marquee offseason event. In addition to the three-day draft, the iconic stadium and the surrounding Titletown District will also include a number of draft activities as part of the week-long spectacle.
“The Packers have a rich and proud history that goes back to the early days of the NFL and are the only community owned team. That connection to our League’s heritage combined with the great passion Packers fans will bring will make the Draft a memorable event for those in attendance and NFL fans watching around the world,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy in a statement.
Monday’s news comes nearly a month after the conclusion of the 2023 NFL draft, hosted in Kansas City, Miss., by the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs. The event “welcomed more than 312,000 fans and had more than 54 million viewers,” per the NFL.
