NFC West news: Pete Carroll done as Seahawks’ head coach

In a shocking development, the Seattle Seahawks will have a new head coach in 2024. The Seahawks announced on Wednesday that they have “amicably agreed with Pete Carroll that his role will evolve from head coach to remain with the organization as an advisor.”

Carroll said after the season that he had no plans to step away from coaching, but he will transition into a new role with the Seahawks after 14 years at the helm in Seattle. This is huge news in the NFC West as the Seahawks enter a new era post-Carroll.

During his 14-year career with the Seahawks, Carroll went 13-16 against the Rams, including the postseason. Overall, the Seahawks were 137-89-1 under Carroll since 2010, with a 10-9 postseason record.

Carroll led the Seahawks to the Super Bowl in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014, winning one of those games.

Below is the statement from Seahawks chair Jody Allen.
