When a quarterback of the caliber of Kirk Cousins enters a division of the caliber of the NFC South, his new team is typically predicted to rise to the top of said division. Cousins signing with the Atlanta Falcons was no exception. Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton, however, had one question around the projection.
Will Kirk Cousins bounce back into Pro Bowl form?
Does Kirk Cousins take Atlanta over the top is the broad storyline many speak about, but Moton narrowed down and focused purely on Cousins’ health.
Cousins is coming off an Achilles injury in his mid-30’s, but he’s also never been the most mobile quarterback. It’ll be interesting how his style of play and age factor into his recovery from this injury.
For the New Orleans Saints, they’ve sunk to third in the division. This seems to be the popular opinion, as well. Moton mentioned the Falcons and Buccaneers when looking at the top of the division.
With an under-the-radar offseason, the Saints have slipped out of these conversations. Tampa Bay has won the division the last three years and the Falcons are the new hot team. The Saints have been forgotten, but they shouldn’t be viewed as far away. There isn’t much separation between the Saints and Buccaneers at least.
