Neymar shuts down Kylian Mbappe question as PSG superstar sets tongues wagging

Exasperated Neymar hastily exited a media scrum after he was probed over his highly-publicised relationship with Paris Saint-Germain strike partner Kylian Mbappe.

The pair's deteriorating bond is the worst kept secret in football despite both enjoying free-scoring starts to the season under new PSG boss Christophe Galtier. But rumours over a strain in their relations have been a non-stop distraction in recent months. It reached boiling point when the pair were reportedly hauled by sporting director Luis Campos in the wake of penalty-gate. And now the Brazil superstar has added fuel to the fire by walking away when asked to addressed the current state of play with Mbappe.

It comes 24 hours after the France international was happy to tell reporters he felt a "freedom" starring for Les Bleus which he doesn't believe he has in Paris. Those comments did little to quell speculation all was not well in French capital. The question came after the striker starred in Brazil's 3-0 cruise over Ghana as they step up their World Cup preparations.

When pressed on Mbappe, Neymar answered "I don't understand" in English before adding: "With Kylian?" before a brief sigh, "I don't." Mbappe opened up on how he views his relationship with Neymar and admitted there have been difficulties in recent times.

He said: "To talk about Neymar, this is the sixth year, I think we've always had a relationship like this based on respect," he said in a press conference. "But we've always had moments like this that were a bit colder and moments that were a bit hotter.

"There are times, you'll see, when we're the best of friends and sometimes we don't talk so much, it's the nature of our relationship that's like that.”
