With three starters out either before the game or due to injuries sustained while playing in it, the Boston Celtics could have easily let go of the rope against the Toronto Raptors Saturday evening and let a loss in after winning 8 games in a row. But according to Grant Williams via NBC Sports Boston, that isn’t who Boston is as a team.
“Everybody on the team has a next-man-up mentality,” he explained. “The guys really stepped up.” In a contest that literally required the Celtics to fight to the final possession on a night where Williams scored a career-high Boston needed almost every point of, it is sounding as if some important lessons are being taken to heart for a team with championship aspirations.
“We’re fortunate enough to get this win,” Williams added. “Who knows what we’ll have (in terms of available players) for the Orlando (Magic) game?”

“We don’t want the mentality of losing,” the Tennessee alum shared. “For us, every night, we compete to the highest level. We have to get beat being who we are — that’s the mark of this team now.”
