Nexon announced the official name for the upcoming Project RX: FAREIDOLIA. The immersive anime game gets its first playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
FAREIDOLIA takes place in Anima City and a world that’s meant to resemble Earth. You play as a director of the Anima City Restoration Center and the head of Tasogare Hall, the Restoration Center’s office. A major part of the game is living alongside anime girls with unique abilities known as Mates.
“FAREIDOLIA is set in Anima City, a world that resembles our own yet feels subtly different. We wanted to capture the story of discovering familiarity within that new world while forming bonds along the way, which led us to the title FAREIDOLIA,” Minseo Cha, the game’s director, said.
Four characters have been revealed so far. Minieh is a cheerful and laid-back explorer. Ohana is an expressionless genius who also indulges in some mischief and fun. Shami is a broke cat girl, but undaunted by her bad luck. And lastly, the Elevator Girl, a mysterious character who operates the elevator.
For those traveling to Tokyo Game Show 2026, there’s a gameplay demo available Saturday (Sept. 19) through Monday (Sept. 21) at the booth that recreates Tasogare Hall from the game. There’s also a rock-paper-scissors mini-game against characters (likely similar to the one shown at Anime Expo 2026), as well as exclusive rewards for attendees.
FAREIDOLIA had its first teaser in December 2025 and seems quite different from your average anime adventures and RPGs. While there’s combat, the game focuses on cozy slice-of-life moments and building connections with characters.
With the first gameplay showcase at TGS 2026, we can likely expect more details about FAREIDOLIA and its possible release windows in the coming months.
