NexDock, the company behind various lapdock accessories that have enabled on-the-go experiences like Samsung DeX and Microsoft Continuum has today announced a new hardware product called NexPhone that runs Android, Linux, AND Windows 11.
The NexPhone, as its name implies, is a smartphone that fits in your pocket. It features a 6.58-inch 120Hz touchscreen, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage. It also supports 5G, and is powered by a Qualcomm Dragonwing QCM6490 SoC, and will be available to buy later this year for just $549.
What's special about the NexPhone is that it's the first smartphone in years to come with Windows. NexDock says the NexPhone can run Android and Linux apps, but has dual-booting capabilities with Windows 11 which lets you run Windows directly onto the device.
NexPhone has even built a custom launcher shell interface for Windows 11 that makes launching apps easier using the small touchscreen, which mimics the old Windows Phone Start screen. You'll be able to switch into Windows 11 at any time with a reboot, and stay in the Windows 11 experience if you don't want Android or Linux.
Of course, the main reason Windows 11 is compatible with the NexPhone is so that you can connect the device to a lapdock or monitor for a true Continuum experience. When connected to a lapdock or monitor, the NexPhone becomes a fully fledged Windows 11 PC, complete with the full desktop experience and app selection you know and love.
Of course, you can also run those experiences directly on the phone too. When Windows 11 is booted, you can install any Windows app you like, but using them will probably be difficult directly on the small phone screen. That's why the device also supports Android, enabling the ability to switch into a mobile-first OS with apps that are designed with that screen-size in mind.
It also has a microSD card slot for memory expansion, NFC for contactless payments, and 18W wired and wireless charging. It's a fully kitted out bit of kit that's designed to make carrying Windows with you easy. It's also built to be rugged, meeting MIL-STD-810H standards.
NexDock says NexPhone will ship in Q3 2026, and you can reserve your own unit today for $199. The device costs #549, so that $199 deposit goes towards that price, meaning you'll only have to pay a remaining $349 when the NexPhone is ready to ship. The device comes with a 5-port USB-C hub too.
