Newtownabbey: Masked men with hammers and 'firearm' smash all the windows of home while man inside

Police are appealing for information after a number of masked men allegedly attacked a house in Co Antrim.

Officers received a report that a group of men armed with hammers and a suspected firearm smashed the windows of a house in Innisrush Gardens, Newtownabbey while a man aged in his 40s was inside.

It is not believed that any shots were fired during the incident.

Detective Sergeant McDowell said: “Shortly after 9:15pm on Wednesday 7 June, it was reported that a number of masked men attended a property in the area armed with hammers with one man believed to have been armed with a suspected firearm. It was reported that all of the windows were smashed. It is not believed that any shots were fired during the incident.

“The males did not enter the property and it was reported that a man in his 40s was inside.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and would appeal to anyone with any information, or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 2128 07/06/23.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
