Newton Stewart FC's pavilion windows smashed by vandals

Vandals have smashed the windows of a football club’s pavilion.

Newton Stewart FC officials discovered the damage at the club’s Blairmount Park last Wednesday morning.

The site is also used by Galloway Thistle, Newton Stewart Rugby Club and Douglas Ewart High School as well as many other groups.

A statement said: “Senseless incidents like this leave our staff, who are all volunteers, literally speechless as to why anyone would want to commit such deliberate damage to the detriment of the entire local community that use the park.

The vandalism is believed to have happened between 6pm and 10pm on June 25 and has caused “significant financial impact.

Anyone with any information should contact Newton Stewart Police Station or call 101 quoting incident 4090 of 25/06/2023.
