WYVERN is fancied to net compensation for a near-miss at Wolverhampton 13 days ago by landing the Spreadex First Goalscorer Insurance Handicap (2.20) at Lingfield on Friday.
Twice successful – in a course-and-distance maiden and a six-furlong handicap at Wolverhampton – from eight starts in 2022, Stuart Williams’ son of Bated Breath ran a promising fourth at Southwell in the middle of last month on his first outing for 205 days.
And Wyvern built on that run over this seven-furlong trip at Dunstall Park last time, going under by a short head to Follow Your Heart.
