Sam Thomas sends GREY DIAMOND (5.20) on the long trip from South Glamorgan to Haydock for the extended two-mile Haydock Park Racecourse Handicap Chase.
The nine-year-old had been considered as a Grand Annual Chase contender earlier in the season, after an excellent third behind Amarillo Sky and Fugitif at Cheltenham In November.
Amarillo Sky went on to finish fourth, despite pulling up lame, in the Clarence House Chase behind Editeur Du Gite, while Fugitive chased home Seddon in the Magners Plate Handicap Chase at the Festival last week.
Instead, this lightly-raced chaser had been targeted a much easier task by his tip-top trainer, having fallen on his last outing in January at Sandown, when looking totally in command.
Another trainer in excellent nick at the moment is Gary Moore, who sends two to Warwick, including HERMINO AA (2.15) in the Watch On Racing TV Novices' Hurdle over two miles and three furlongs.
This progressive sort finished second in a bumper before bolting up on his second hurdle outing by eight lengths at Moore’s local track at Plumpton in January.
He then ran a big race at Sandown 15 days ago on his handicap debut, finishing runner-up behind Howlingmadmurdock, and has every chance of sealing a second hurdle victory.
